I helped Sasha write some paragraphs and helped him clear up some structural and grammatical errors he often made.  He then asked me to write up what I'd told him so he could use it at school.  This is what I gave him:

    WRITING A PARAGRAPH
    This paragraph explains how to write a paragraph.  The first sentence is the topic sentence, and it always says what your paragraph is about.  The next several sentences give examples.  They also explain the examples.  Additionally, every sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a period, question mark, or exclamation point.  Don’t forget commas!  If a sentence gets very long, you should probably break it into smaller sentences.  Finally, you should end with a clincher, which just restates your main idea again.  That is how you write a paragraph.
