Pie, Yes. Piragis, Not So Much
For Thanksgiving, I volunteered to bring the pies and the piragis. Piragis are stuffed rolls from Latvia. They're fun to make, but take a while, and unfortunately I just wasn't able to pull them off in time. Gah! Single dad syndrome strikes! However, I was able to rush together some loaves of bread. Bought two kinds of dip from the store and made a third (crab meat + cocktail sauce + cream cheese = heaven). So that was okay.
The pies, fortunately, I had no problem with. My brother Paul had requested pecan as well as pumpkin. I'd never made pecan pie before, but I love trying new stuff in the kitchen and was willing to give it a try. Turned it pecan pie was fairly straightforward, and the ones I made came out smellin' tasty. Cool!
