Christmas Day 2010

Aran and Maksim got me up at 8:00.  (!)  I told them they could get me up at 7:00, but that was when they themselves got up, thanks to the late bedtime, and they spent the hour going through their stockings (filled with novelty toys like Uncle Paul got) and sorting out the presents from under the tree.

Sasha was dragged, groaning, out of bed.

The Kinect was the big present, so Christmas morning was more modest.  The boys got clothes and pajamas and Legos and many books and some DVDs.  Maksim quickly spread the Legos from one end of the living room to the other!

Buttermilk pancakes were on the menu for breakfast, and then it was more present enjoyment time.

Later, we headed off to Kala's grandmother's house for a visit with the in-laws (ex-in-laws?).  More food!  More socializing!  More presents!  Among other things, Sasha got a lot of art supplies from various corners, and he's set for quite a while now.  Mackie got an enormous book of word puzzles, and he's been really getting into them.  Aran got a big set of science books.  (I told him he'll be like Sheldon from THE BIG BANG THEORY.)

Even though Kala wasn't there, I spent considerable time talking with her family.  I've been part of this scene for 20 years now, and I don't think a divorce is going to change any of that.  Certainly I don't want to cut the boys out of it.

Sasha drove us safely home, and there was more time with The New Toys.
