Seriously, Do You Want to Sell Your House?
So after writing eight offers, we STILL don't have a house. This seller has two competing offers to choose from and didn't like ours as much. That seller can't do an FHA mortgage because there's seepage in the basement, and the house won't pass FHA inspection, so he had to turn our offer down. This seller over here suddenly decided not to sell after all. Yet another seller played passive-aggressive, refusing to respond to our offer at all and just letting it expire.
The latest "sellers" wanted to keep the house 45 days after closing. WTF? They had no competing offers, we offered near-list price, conceded on everything they wanted (a higher earnest money deposit, we would pay for well and septic inspection, we would even pay for all but $250 of FHA-required repairs), but they still insisted on retaining possession "up to 45 days after closing." We can't do that--we need the house at closing so we can move in before school starts. And who the hell tries to retain possession of a house for a variable number of days after closing? These people are the height of STUPID.
Another tip to selling your house: ACCEPT THE OFFER AND SELL YOUR DAMN HOUSE.
