Chicago!

On Sunday, I got up at 5:00 a.m. to join 50 teenagers and 6 adults in boarding a bus for Chicago.

It was a good trip, overall!

Sasha's IEP

Today was Sasha's IEP.  This was actually the third in a series of IEP-related meetings for Sasha.  Six people were there.  In the end, Sasha was classified as a special education student due to his emotional difficulties and his ADHD.  We wrangled through accommodations and we figured out a new schedule for him (his third this year).  We also figured some long-term goals from him.  Sasha simply can't meet the state math requirements, so he can't earn a full diploma and he's going to work on a certificate of completion, with an emphasis on vocational education.

It was very tiring, as usual.  (I'm quite the connoisseur of IEPs now.)  But it's settled now, and he'll get the help he needs.

Next on my list: a therapist for him and for Maksim.

And After

After the Chicago trip and a day of teaching and Sasha's IEP, I came home to a reminder that Aran's parent-teacher conferences were today.  Rushed out the door for those.  They went well, actually.  Aran has settled in and is doing nicely.  I found out his SNAPS class is putting a band together, and the teacher was surprised to hear Aran plays piano/keyboards.  I said he should join the band as either a singer or player.  So we'll work on that.

Then it was home for a fast supper and Mackie's bi-weekly Cub Scout meeting.

And then an emotional problem with Sasha which needed handling.
