Best line from today's WIP: "You better not have sneezed inside my nose.”

Let's be clear here:

Public sector employees (including teachers) do NOT make more than private sector employees do.  This is a fiction pushed by the right wing.  And here's the proof:

"Public employee groups such as teachers have made concessions on wages in order to keep solid benefits. . . . Now politicians are focusing on those benefits as they look for spending cuts."

The private sector workers keep howling that THEY took pay cuts and now we public sector folk need to take them, too.  But we never had the high salary the private sector did in the first place, and our job requirements are, on average, more stringent.  For example, I have a Master's degree AND a separate certification (which requires more college credits) AND I have to continually go back to school on my own dime to keep my certification up.  My salary is low for someone of my education and experience.

In addition, my workload has steadily increased.  I have over 160 students this year, where I used to have 120 or 130.  So I'm doing more for less.

In exchange for this, though, I have good benefits and powerful job security.  I am NOT rolling in money now, and I wasn't rolling in money back back when Wall Street had it great, either.  I don't get the raises or the bonuses.

So how is it fair that what little I DO have gets slashed?
